War haunt

In My Other Life
Gunshots, like irritating flies
fill the air with smoke,
I remember this like yesterday,
and how the silence broke.
Smell of flesh and naked trees,
the world in black and gray,
A silent tear a hopeless wish,
a dream in a war's day.
Constant yelling and sad cries,
from corners of each room,
The countdown to each one dead,
too young, old and soon.
A maze of mines and bullet shells,
were 2 of many games,
suffering and blooded smells
bodies without names.
A walking stick and old smoke pipe,
left there on the floor,
the old mans hands above his head,
and words of 'please no more'.
Baby's cot and 2 blue bears,
hugging in the snow,
a mother sobs without a child,
who she'd never see grow.
A fellow neighbour's secret smile,
a hand of a friend,
weeping willows in the river,
a fright which has no end.
The hardened footsteps,
the heavy blows and bullet in the head,
is what i felt when i was 8
the last time i was dead.
Memories and happy turns,
and Gods almighty love,
has left the heart to beat again,
and carry hope above.

nice words, flow freely
This is sad yet it ends in hope. God bless you!
That is very very good I'm impressed.
The ending is excellent. Dig even deeper, and keep at them!
War in Bosnia where spooky horror movie!!Happy days are comming:-)
I'm with I*n*v*i*c*t*u*s- "tragic to uplifting". Beautiful writing. There has to be some residue of PTSD at least. Keep on keeping on. Thank you Leptirela!
An Intensely visual page I'm glad I found you Leptirela:)
It is somehow beautiful the way the past covers the ground in snow. Waiting to just melt away and be forgotten once more. Memories fade in distant dreams of yesterday, but in your words I see a hope for tomorrow and that is lovely.
The power of words is almost if not intoxicating. You are too sweet. thank you.
Howdy Leptirela - You wrote for many people in our turbulent world of today.
Gus :-)))
it was a great read. sad but emotional at the same time. blessings
Well said........
That is beautiful writing, Leptirela. A tragic tale, made even more tragic by being yet another episode in a continuum of awful truth... So nice to 'see' you smiling in your other hubs.
......in my other life I was a Martian and then I came to earth and discovered how well earthlings like you can write - and then my 'intelligence' reform told me that LEPTIRELA is at the top of her class .......
It starts in despair and ends with hope shinig throug. Great job.
Wonderful transitions of past and present, well written.
